Gilbert Bretterbauer
ornamentale baumallee
This little book documents Gilbert Bretterbauer’s art project commissioned by KÖR—Kunst im öffentlichen Raum and realized in Seestadt Aspern, Vienna. Particleboard hoarding becomes the canvas for the abstract representation of a tree-lined road. The individual trees consist of two color planes indicating foliage, branches, and the trunk. In their repetition, the differently colored trees on rough chipboards create a colorful ornament. The “abstract tree-lined road” offers a checkered projection of nature throughout the seasons. Additionally, this publication represents an experimental flipbook par excellence.
