Jenny Holzer has worked for 30 years with sentences and texts which she spreads out in public space or places conspicuously by means of LED signs and light projections. The catalogue documents text projections in New York and Vienna, light installations on facades which signalise economic, political and cultural power, with sentences from texts by Yehuda Amichai, Mahmoud Darwish, Wislawa Szymborska, Adam Zagajewski and others which develop their poetic quality and political potential as irritating light signs in power-coded public space. In 2006 Jenny Holzer created her first light projection so far for an interior space for he Museum of Applied Art in Vienna with selected sentences from the early novels of the Austrian Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek. The catalogue's full-page illustrations are by the outstanding Italian photographer Attilio Maranzano.
